Celebrating Community Collaboration: The Opening of the Perkovich Patio at the Nagel Unit

After two summers of hard work, passion, and collaboration with partners and volunteers, the beautiful new outdoor space at the Nagel Unit (West Side Clubhouse) is officially open. This new patio and garden area, which we are thrilled to see come to life, has been developed in close partnership with Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC), expanding the Nagel Unit’s footprint in an educational and engaging way for the nearly 500 young people the organization serves each day.
The Perkovich Patio is more than just a physical space. It’s a symbol of what can be achieved when communities come together to make a lasting impact. The patio and garden serve as a place for learning, connection, and growth, offering the youth who use the facility a safe, enriching environment where they can thrive. Whether it’s a quiet place for reflection, a venue for educational workshops, or simply a spot to connect with others, this new addition is a testament to the power of collaboration.
We want to take a moment to thank Ben Perkovich, Director of Clubhouse Operations, for his incredible leadership and vision in bringing this project to life. Ben’s dedication and commitment have been instrumental in creating a space where young minds can flourish, and we couldn’t be prouder of his accomplishments. Special thanks to the team at NWTC, the volunteers, and everyone who played a role in turning this vision into reality. Your efforts have truly made a difference in the lives of so many young people in our community.
The dedication ceremony for the Perkovich Patio was a memorable event, attended by key local leaders who share the vision for providing enriching opportunities for our youth. We were honored to have State Senator Jamie Wall, Senator André Jacque, and State Representative Ryan Spaude in attendance, offering their support and celebrating the fruits of this remarkable collaboration.
This project stands as a shining example of what we can achieve when we come together as a community with a shared goal: to provide safe, nurturing spaces where young people can connect, learn, and grow. We are thrilled to see the Perkovich Patio open its doors to the youth of the Nagel Unit, and we can’t wait to see all the ways it will be used to shape the future of our community.
